Can electric field exist tangential to equipotential surface? Give reason.
I understand why no
But now this is how an equipot looks like
Tangential to it means how diagram will come
If they are field lines along x axis
In diagram
Tangent of x axis is again x axis
So now if we apply field in that direction. It's equipotential right

But in diagram if we see isn't it clear that net field is 2dEcosx
Then why we don't multiply 2
